Welcome to the Drewgard Roadster!

This late 2CV/Dyane body conversion features many ideas that we have always wanted to include in ‘that very special Citroen 2CV’… in fact we are surprised that there is not yet a Sportscar Series that this can compete in…well perhaps there is; do you know of one?

Our new aluminium body, set on a light but strong centre section frame, sits on the 2CV chassis. Using all 2CV components, the suspension and steering retains the original parts and layout but modifies them to give a wider track, a lowered and stiffened suspension stabilised with a Citroen ‘A’ series type anti-roll bar. There are several ways to enhance the basic Roadster specification, such as by using our ‘Original Equipment’ replacement aluminium chassis frame saving some 20Kg, and to improve road holding and simplify maintenance you can fit our well known sealed ball joint front swivel hub and track rod end units. Further options that still keep the experience mainstream 2CV are a 602cc engine fast road cam, 652cc big bore barrel with 9.1 compression pistons, free flow exhaust manifold with sidewinder stainless exhaust system and 123 electronic ignition, fuel injection and or turbo charging.

There are other exciting installations this conversion will accept, such as a BMW bike engine or Electric Vehicle conversion. We can advise you about our mid engine configuration too.

A particular concern for those in the UK, is that the design allows for a 2CV or Dyane, fitted with the basic conversion, to keep its original number plate. An alternative is that the build can score enough points to qualify as a radically altered vehicle and thus can receive an age related number plate. There is a remote possibility that the build can be shown to be all new in which case a today’s number plate will be issued. It is in your interests and ours that you avoid letting your car be registered as a ‘Q’ plate; This category should be avoided at all times.

Please visit our Roadster Unique Parts List Page to see what is needed to build this car. Other than the parts from a 2CV or Dyane that are to be modified for the Roadster, all the rest that you will need other than lighting, are almost all sourced from a Citroen 2CV 1980-90 or late Dyane.
